Metro Print is committed to reducing our carbon footprint, one print at a time
through sustainable environmentally friendly printing practices. We are working
consciously and responsibly towards a cleaner, and greener future.
Eco Together
When you print with Metro Print, you don’t just save money, you also save the environment. To reduce our impact on the environment we use papers sourced from well managed forests that adhere to strict environmental standards. We also strive for environmental responsibility by:
Responsibly Sourced Papers
Papers come in many colours, textures and weights, whether they are regular product-type paper or the specialty ones. We love paper (have you seen our paper sample kit?) and we’re proud to carry a wide variety of FSC® (Forest Stewardship Council) [www.fsc.org] or PEFC (Program for the Endorsement of Forest Certification) [www.pefc.org] certified papers, and other green papers that are Recycled, Acid Free, Carbon Neutral or Chlorine Free. Many types of green papers fit for your earth-conscious needs.
Vegetable Oil Inks
We use extensively Japan brand Vegetable Oil Ink for our offset prints. Vegetable Oil Inks are derived from Soybean, Linseed, Palm and other non-edible vegetable oils. They are environment friendly and the sustainable alternative to traditional petroleum based printing inks. By 2010 more than 70% of the printing inks in Japan were soy oil based inks. In 2011, the Japan Printing Ink Makers Association introduced Vegetable Oil Inks as an eco-friendly printing ink. Vegetable oils are considered a more viable, sustainable raw material for ink production. Globally, more and more printers are discovering that Vegetable Oil Inks often produce more vibrant colours than traditional inks, and require less pigment to create the same effects.

Use of Vegetable Oil Ink logo on your printed material
All our offset printing is done with Japan brand Vegetable Oil Inks. Feel free to use the logo on your print data, especially if you’re trying to appeal towards being eco-friendly. You can download the logo from left. Please understand that we accept no responsibility arising from its improper use.
Conventional Printing Ink
Conventional printing inks are petroleum-based and because of their ingredients, have a relatively high environmental impact. They contain pigments and oils which need to be extracted from the earth, and alcohol-based solvents that emit Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) into the air, which cause environmental and ozone pollution and are harmful to health.
Our Buildings
By encouraging recycling initiatives, we have made saving water and energy an integral part of our day-to-day work environments.
